The coronavirus crisis has had a negative impact on intercity transportation

50 percent

In the last six months, the demand for intercity buses has dropped by more than 50 percent since the Corona crisis.

The Coronavirus crisis, which began before the Novruz holiday, has led to a significant reduction in travel between cities.

Public distance and health protocols have caused severe economic losses in this area. The number of people wishing to travel between cities has also decreased.

Although the number of people wanting to travel has decreased, the cost of bus maintenance, tow parts and car tires has risen sharply in recent months. According to transport companies, although ticket prices have risen, they have not been able to compensate for the loss of passengers and increased costs.

A transport company operating in Maragha said its customers had dropped by 80 percent, IRNA news agency reported. The company said that before the coronavirus crisis, five buses a day used to travel from Maragha to Tehran alone, but now that number has dropped to one car a day, which is 50 percent of the passengers.
