Nature lovers and Astara municipal forces collected about a ton of garbage and cleared part of the coastline of the city on the Caspian Sea.

The mayor of Astara on Thursday, on the sidelines of this cultural program on the city’s Mokhiri coast, said: “Despite the implementation of nature clean-up projects, separation of waste from the source and waste management training workshops, unkindness to nature continues.”

Javad Moayati added: Astara coastline is more important to tourists in summer than other places, and today a ton of garbage was collected from it, and travelers should also pay attention to the cleanliness of the beach.

He stated:

“In addition to enjoying nature, travelers and citizens should be diligent in preserving the environment by observing the ethics of nature tourism and environmental recommendations, and garbage bins have been installed on the benevolent coast of Astara”.

He continued:

“The collection of the invasive plant Azolla from the rivers of Astara has been started by the municipal forces and the participation of non-governmental organizations in this regard is essential”.

The head of the Astara Department of Environmental Protection also said:

“Garbage and leachate are the most important threat to the sea, and travelers and tourists in Astara should refrain from dumping it on the shoreline.”

Mustafa Fallah said:

“Astara coastline is one of the natural and God-given capitals of this city and we should all work hard to protect it and preserve it properly for future generations”.
