Tabriz “Ilisu” canal has no sewage

Deputy Minister of Operation and Development of East Azerbaijan Water and Sewerage Company said: “Ilisu” canal in Tabriz has no sewage.

In an interview with ISNA, Mohammad Khani stated: The province’s water and sewage company has started to complete the municipal sewage network around the Ilisu canal since last year, and now this 29-kilometer-long sewage network has been completed over 90%.

He added: “Currently, the problem of the tributary canal in Tabriz has nothing to do with the Water and Sewerage Company, and the company’s duty to improve the situation and separate the sewage from the surface water of the canal has been done well.”

He continued: “Ilisu is a canal for collecting and transporting surface water, but unfortunately the water of this canal is stagnant and does not move, so this canal has become odorless without sewage.”

Emphasizing that the Water and Sewerage Company does not have a mission in this regard, Khani said: the sewerage network has been set up around the Ilisu canal and no human sewage is directed to it, and only surface water and neighborhood effluents are collected in this canal and Not fluent.

He said that the municipality is responsible for solving the problem of the Ilisu canal, adding: “In fact, the municipality should lubricate and dredge the surface water disposal canal so that the water flows better and does not become waterlogged.”
