The governor of Shut in western Azerbaijan said: The Seljuk dome in the village of Kandal in Shut will be repaired and reconstructed for 1.5 billion riyals.
In an interview with ISNA, Hassan Abdullahi Asl added: “This dome and the road to the historic site will be repaired this year.”
According to the Shut commander, one billion riyals are needed for the second phase of the renovation of this historical monument.
“Today we are witnessing 80% of the physical progress of the monument,” he said, adding that the repair, demolition and renovation of the building, 70% of which was demolished, was brought up by the province’s cultural heritage and handicrafts department.
Abdullahi Asl called the historical dome of Shut from the Seljuk period the largest historical dome in the northwest of the province, adding: “This historical monument was built in the village of Kandal in Shut and its restoration began last year.”
Looking through the door, you can see the 8-sided plan of the Kandal dome, and inside it has a circular shape. Shut has 35 historical works registered as national works. Also, more than this number of works have not been registered and are unknown. In particular, the historical bath of the Sufi village has the potential in the field of Shut’s cultural heritage and historical monuments.
