Director of Agriculture of Horand city announced the beginning of sumac harvest in more than 700 hectares of gardens in the city. He said:
“It is expected that more than 560 tons of sumac gardens will be harvested in the city”.
Ahad Tayeri told reporters that Horand is one of the most important centers of sumac production in the country and the sumac of this city is produced in the heart of Arasbaran forests and is considered as the best sumac in the country:
“The yield of this product is estimated at 0.8 tons per hectare”.
He said that there are 700 hectares of sumac in this city, of which 550 hectares are planted in the forest and 150 hectares are planted by hand, adding:
“Horand sumac is in the first place in the country in terms of quality, color and taste and production sumac In the existing sumac workshops in the region, which has been increased to five workshops, it is processed and packaged in hygienic conditions”.
He continued:
“With the efforts of the experts of Chahardangeh Jihad-e-Agriculture Center, in 1997, samples of fertile and quality cultivars of the region were identified and transferred to the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology of the province”.
