Due to the coronavirus crisis this year, the 57th session of the United Nations was held remotely and via the Internet. The country’s leaders each tried to speak at the time of their departure. This year, as every year, Iran has used the UN General Assembly to promote global propaganda. A few days ago, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif surprised and protested in an interview with his false allegations about Iran.
Zarif was once again accused of lying in Iran with his allegations about Navid Afkari, who was executed a few days ago. Zarif Afkari said he was executed for being a murderer. Although Navid Afkari was sentenced to death for war crimes for participating in the Aban protests, the minister did not hesitate to tell such a big lie.
However, Hassan Rouhani said more interesting things in the United Nations speech. Hassan Rouhani criticized the violation of human rights in America and complained about the lack of justice. He also openly thanked China and Russia for backing Iran against the United States.
Rouhani claimed that Iran is the strongest and oldest democracy in the Middle East. Rouhani’s claims that Iran also has the oldest democracy in the Middle East have been widely circulated in Iran. These images also led to widespread protests and criticism from social media users.
While, for example, Turkish President Erdogan spoke on the Palestinian issue and the Karabakh issue in Azerbaijan, Iran, which has claims about the Islamic world, remained silent, especially on Karabakh.
Iran, which is advancing a strong propaganda operation thanks to its vast and uncompetitive media power, continues to show whoever it wants inside the country.
While, for example, with the start of the new school year, more than half of the country’s population has been deprived of education in their mother tongue, Iranian figures speak of the country’s democracy. Moreover, such issues are perpetuated by various Persian media outlets who appear to be opponents of the regime. Ignoring the millions of non-Persians and Shiites, this trip is inspired by non-minimum democracy. The country that Ali Khamenei took over is not only Iran but also the whole Middle East, which supports systematic terrorism and tramples on the rights of millions of people.
