The last interrogation session of Parisa Rafiei, a trade union activist at the University of Tehran imprisoned in Evin Prison, was held today, Saturday, September 6, at Branch 2 of the Evin Courthouse to obtain her latest defense in a newly opened case.
After the meeting, which was held without the presence of Ms. Rafiei’s lawyer, the investigator issued bail for the union activist. The first hearing in Ms. Rafiei’s case was held on August 20 at the Evin Courthouse. This case was created because of a letter written to Parisa Rafiei in May 1998 regarding the conditions of solitary confinement and the double pressure on female civil activists with levers such as the “virginity test”.
During this hearing, which was held in Branch 2 of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, presided over by Judge Haji Moradi, without the presence of her lawyer, Ms. Rafiei presented her final defense on the charge of “propaganda against the regime”. The court sentenced to bail her 100 million tomans.
