27% of the Gulf of Gurgan, located in the south of the Caspian Sea, has dried up. This situation has become dangerous for the creatures living in the waters of the Gulf.
Hamid Alizadeh, Deputy Technological Director of the National Research Center for Oceanography, made a statement on the issue on Bahman 5.
He attributed the drop in water levels to climate change, global warming, reduced rainfall and increased evaporation. He stressed the need to work to prevent the drying up of the Gulf of Gurgan. It should be noted that Gulf of Gurgan was included in the list of “Lakelet of Ramsar Convention” in 1354.
