The Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Alborz Province announced that a number of historical monuments in the province, including the ancient Uzbek hill of Nazarabad, have been included in the world registration list.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Thursday, Fereydoun Mohammadi stated:
“The 7,000-year-old Uzbek hill and the historic Alborz caravanserais have a special feature for world registration.
If the restoration operation of the historical pearl palace of Mehrshahr, Karaj is done, it will be introduced as a new historical building for world registration”.
The Uzbek historical hill located in the city of Nazarabad is one of the country’s most important historical monuments, a specimen of which is preserved in the United Nations.
Alborz province also has a number of historical caravanserais, including Shah Abbasi caravanserai in Karaj and Yangi Imam historical caravanserai related to the Safavid era.
Mohammadi said: “Since the city of Eshtehard has attractions such as desert plains, colorful mountains, salt caves, and unique nature, so these capacities are an opportunity for tourism to flourish in Alborz province.”
He continued: “According to this, the necessary study has been done to create the largest desert tourism camp in the country in this city, and this complex is to be constructed and launched in cooperation with the Eshtehard governorate and natural resources department.”
Mohammadi said: “With the creation of this complex, Eshtehard city will be introduced as the desert hub of Alborz province”.
The Director-General of Alborz Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts stated: A private sector company called the Cultural Heritage Supporters Company has announced its readiness to invest in this sector.
Eshtehard city with a population of 35,000 is located 70 km southwest of Karaj, the capital of Alborz province.
